SEO Footprint And It’s Role In Blogging

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Thursday 31 December 2009 8:33 am

When the Internet started out in 1997, it was naturally vulnerable to abuse. Those who created it had yet to perfect it while dealing with the unknown. Nobody exactly knew how such technology would make it outside where people would be using it. When search engine optimization and its benefits first came to public knowledge, it was automatically explored and practiced by businessmen who believed it was the solution to their classic problem of poor Internet visibility which automatically translated to poor sales. Of course, the Internet itself was technology and its advantages had to be worn out if it were to serve man considerably. Since the only way to improve site performance was to make it turn up on results pages, seo experts toyed with all sorts of ideas on how to beat these engines’ algorithms and actually have their sites landing where they wanted them - at the top of a search engine ranking page or SERP. This became a battle among programmers who were commissioned by site owners to crack the formulas that the engines used in indexing pages. By this time, spammers were born. Search engines used so called “spiders” to pick up information for each web page on the Internet so it would know which sites to display on its search results. When an search engine optimization submission expert knew exactly what keywords to use in his meta tags, he site had a great chance of getting a good ranking. However, as the Internet had yet to be perfected back then, spammers bombarded their content with all of these keywords even if they started to diminish the quality of their sites. In other words, search engine optimization then was simply about overstuffing your information with search spider-friendly words and working HTML magic to be able to beat the engines and competing sites. These days, old-school seo just wouldn’t work because search engines have become smarter and better at spotting black hats. In fact, when content is detected to have a higher keyword density than allowed, the site is simply skipped by the spiders, hence, burying the site down into the deepest pits of search engine results. In worst cases, the it is simply banned. Nowadays, some web programmers still attempt to crack the search engines’ algorithms in indexing pages but none has, so far, succeeded. In fact, a more holistic approach is now being used for evaluating sites with deeper aspects of seo marketing such as competitive analysis, copywriting and copyediting being factors in a site’s possibility of getting good Internet visibility. Making money blogging has been one of the most lucrative activities borne out of the Internet and good search engine optimization strategies. And anyone who is curious enough about this new development can start learning how to blog and perhaps discover for himself that blogging can, indeed, be a career for life.

Get Found Faster With WordPress

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Thursday 31 December 2009 8:31 am

I was reluctant to use WordPress for many years because I didn’t understand it.As I began making more blog posts, I could see an increase in my sales. I became a convert.

WordPress Is Search Engine Friendly

Search engines love WordPress and there’s a good reason for that. The WordPress developers made sure their software would be search engine friendly.Search engines are able to easily crawl and index your blog’s content because of that. Then be sure to write some original content.

Pinging Your Blog

Pinging is by far one of the best features of a WordPress because it tells a web blog tracking system that your blog has been updated.  These pinging services are like search engine spiders for blogs.Pining is the fastest way to get your blog crawled and indexed.  Find and sign up for as many pinging services as you can because a well pinged blog can attract many visitors. The URLs of the pinging services can be entered in the WordPress Settings - Writing - Update Services box.

Switching Themes Is Easy

After having developed many traditional HTML websites of my own, changing the design and layout is a major undertaking, yet one that needs to be done from time to time.Unfortunately, it’s easy to break funtionality in the process.

WordPress makes it very easy to switch themes without affecting the data.  A theme is like a pair of window curtains around your blog. The blog’s content won’t change, only the window dressing changes.  WordPress is especially fun around major holidays when you can switch from summer to fall to Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas, and so on.

Make Your Own WordPress Themes

Developing your own WordPress themes is fun and easy with theme development software like Artisteer.Artisteer can also make themes for Drupal, Blogger and more.  Ever wish you could have a theme with sidebars on the left instead of right, or perhaps on both sides?Want a darker background?  Or perhaps change the width of the layout and have a bigger space for a header image?  Here are two blogs I made with Artisteer, one about scented candles and the other about strength training. With the help of a few free plugins, you can also make themes to look more like a standard HTML website.

If you haven’t already given WordPress a try, I encourage you to do so.  If you can use word-processing software, you can use WordPress.

Using Free Host For Your First Blog – Why Not?

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Wednesday 30 December 2009 12:57 pm

Excited about blogging and wanted to create a blog for your own ? Heard lots of friends making money with their blog and want to start one too ? Well, I am happy on your decision to join the internet blogging community but there are several things you must know before rushing in to it. We will not be looking at what blogging software to use, there are basically a dozen good and popular ones out there, just select one that you feel is easy to learn and pickup, and perhaps ask around your friends what they are using can help you get a good recommendation as well as a start to ‘join the crowd’ too. We will be concentrating on comparing free and paid web hosting options for blogs. We know that any websites including a blog needs web hosting, and it is important for you to make the first step right otherwise you might suffer losing all your hard work later when you are considering of taking the blog to next level. Basically, you should understand what free blog hosting and paid web hosting is. Of course, anything that is free is always tempting, but you should know that there are no free lunch under the sun, people give out something in order to gain something out of it, there are no difference in any free blog hosting offerings you can find out there. In other words, you have to be crystal clear of what you are giving out when you decide to take that free offer and whether it is worth giving that out. • Different free Blog hosting offerings may have different tactics to tie you down to the service. Generally, these type of services are trying to make use of your content to generate advertising income, that means they will reserve a piece of real estate on every of your blog pages for their own use. • You may not be able to use your own domain name for your blog in most free blog hosting provider, and this can be a major problem for you as you do not have a unique identity to build your own website branding. You are going to lose your online identity when you want to transfer your blog elsewhere, because you cannot move a subdomain to another web host, or if the free blog hosting provider decide to exit the business. • Some popular free blog hosting are basically just a marketing tool for their open source program, they don’t put advertisement in your blog and they don’t allow you to put your own either, that means you are going to loose out plenty of cash if your blog gets popular someday, you have sacrificed the option to turn the traffic into cash while opt. for the free service initially. • Most of the free blog hosting uses a centralized blog program for easier management, that means you will not have the control over the blog program, for example adding plugins or extra modules of your choice to make your blog stand out from others, you will not have the control over the look and feel of your own blog either. Although, there are generally lots of choices of themes and templates available for you to choose, you may not have the option to use your own custom made theme. Reasons Why You Have To Have A WordPress Blog

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Wednesday 30 December 2009 12:56 pm

So, let’s look at the top five reasons why you need a WordPress blog: 1. Blogs are User-Friendly and Very Easy to Use The upside to having blog software as opposed to a website is that it is very user-friendly. The blog uses a GUI, or a graphic-user interface, which means that that everything that you may need to do is laid out in simple to understand graphics. The blogging software also conforms to the standards of most other software programs. For example, the graphic icons you see in Microsoft Office programs are very similar to the graphics you’ll see inside of your blog. The reason that this is so important is that YOU can update your OWN website and you don’t need to pay high prices in web design fees to do so! There is no messing around with HTML code, you can avoid having a dull, lifeless site that people only visit occasionally and instead, you can update it yourself and give people a reason to return again and again and again. The other upside to this is that when you want something changed quickly, you can do so. You no longer have to wait on a web designer or a virtual assistant, you can just pop in to the dashboard and update the page you need to make changes to and click save and boom - you’re done! Making regular posts is also easy to do. In a few, short clicks and then some keystrokes for the body of your post, you can have fresh, new content on your blog immediately. If you’re feeling particularly creative one day, you can write a series of posts and save them all to post on future dates. For me, I will write eight or nine blog entries at a time and save them to post one or two days apart. This is also useful if you are going on vacation. In February, my husband and I went to the Dominican for a vacation and before I left, I wrote blog entries to cover the week I was gone and just posted them in advance. On the days that I specified, my blog entries showed up on the blog! 2. Blogs Are Easy to Navigate All blogs follow a fairly standard style of formatting and navigation. Although each template may look different, they all contain the same standard elements. When I visit a blog, I always know where to go to see Recent Posts. I also know that on the majority of blogs, I will be able to find a place to subscribe to the blogs feed. A feed is simply a syndication of your blog entries. That syndicated text is then sent out to your blog visitors feed readers and is sent out to the search engines, etc. This is part of the reason that blogging is so powerful in getting people to your site. Have you ever visited a website where every menu has been different and each sidebar contained different text depending on where you were on the website? Those types of websites are confusing and they don’t lead the website visitor where they should be going. With blogging software, it remains standard and is always updating itself. When you make a change on one sidebar, it automatically updates on every other sidebar which eliminates any sort of confusion for your website visitors. A great book I want to recommend is Steve Krug’s “Don’t Make Me Think.” Even if you don’t design websites, you want to read this book. A lot of the reasons that I love blogs are outlined in his usability section. He references making websites more functional by following his principles but what is so great is that a blog already conforms to many of his standards. 3. People Can Subscribe to Your Blog and Stay Current Now, I want to explain what RSS is first. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. What it is is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated digital content, such as blogs, news feeds or podcasts. People who are into blogging will use your RSS feed to do a few things: - They may subscribe to receive a daily digest of new content. Think of how powerful this is in terms of keeping you in touch with your target market. If someone receives constant, updated messages from you, you are always in their line of sight and they will see what you are up to, new products or services you are launching and how much knowledge you have on your chosen subject. - They may also add you to their feed reader. I have a program that I use called Feed Demon and this software program tracks all of the blogs I am interested in by capturing and updating the feed that comes from the blog. Each day I can open up this software program and have an instant summary of every blog I have subscribed to and I can review what it is people are talking about. This allows me to stay current without having a thousand bookmarks in my internet browser or trying to remember which blogs I liked to read. The same is true for your visitors. They want a quick, easy way to be reminded that you exist and that you are posting things that they want to know about. Normal sites don’t do this for you unless you are putting out a monthly ezine that contains all of your business updates. By having the blog, you can nearly cut out the monthly ezine and just let the blog do the work for you! 4. Search Engines Love Them and They Are Content Managers In fact, it’s so easy to build content on your blog that I have actually created info-products based on content I had blogged about over the past year. Info-products become simple to do because you aren’t creating fresh, new content each and every time. What you blog about could become an article which could turn into an e-book. Blogging gets you into the habit of writing and creating which then allows you to easily and effortlessly create info-products. Your visitors will also love this for the reason that when they show up on your site looking for assistance in your chosen profession, they can find a whole archive of great content. Most of my blogging clients will archive their past newsletters or e-zines on their blogs so that their clients can read past issues without having to download PDFs or visit thirteen or fourteen different web pages. Search engines feel affection for blogs for a number of reasons. Number one, they love the fact that fresh, new content is being posted all of the time. Even if you are only updating it once a week, you will still see the benefits from it. Each and every time you post something to your blog, the search engines are automatically pinged and if you have pinging software installed, which is free and simple to use, it’ll automatically ping the different services that should be pinged. Number two, search engines love hyperlinks and trackbacks. Hyperlinks are links to other people’s websites, blog entries, audio files, etc. and track backs are special links from someone else’s blog entry that let the other person know you’ve blogged about him or her. It also posts YOUR entry on their site for other people to read. This is how blogging also becomes so viral. 5. They Become an Active Networking Source for Your Business For me, I have met a number of brand new people through my blog. Some of these people became clients, others were just frequent readers that became friends and others asked me to collaborate with them on special projects. By having a blog, you can become a place where people visit to learn about what it is you are writing about but also so that they can meet you, get to know you and someday work with you. You can build a community and allow other people to meet through you which then allows people to talk about you and get your name out there. If you think of standard networking, you think of people showing up to an event for about an hour, rushing through the crowds trying to get business cards and then leaving the event and never really having a true feeling of connection. I’m sure we’ve all experienced this. Blogging gives your interested parties a place to come to learn about you. They can start to see how you both would benefit from knowing each other and they will be more apt to approach you over time. This is a much more effective way to network and you don’t need to worry about your business card being thrown in the trash. One more way that it becomes a networking tool is when you reach out to other people’s blogs. Once you start blogging, you will quickly realize that the whole world is blogging and there are many great things to be read. By visiting other people’s blogs and leaving comments on their posts, you will do two things: one, you will introduce yourself in a non-threatening or non-imposing way to someone you may not have wanted to just e-mail in the past and two, by showing that you have interest in that subject on their blog, you’ll gain interested visitors who share similar interests. If you want to learn more about Blog Making Money you are definitely on the right place. Blog Making Money is one of the most effective ways to make money online. Blogging - The Ways You Make Money

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Friday 25 December 2009 1:34 am

If you have an online business, it sure pays to do extra work trying to get it out to more people to increase your sales. And what better way to do that now than blogging. Definitely, blogging is a great way to promote your products or services and to seek out sponsors. Of course, you don’t essentially promote what you sell directly through the posts you make. What you’ll want to write about are topics that are informational and relevant to your products or services. This is a proven way to make your blog make money online just by staying home and enjoying the best of family life. With a blog, you can add those pay per click ads which give you a commission for every click made on ads on your blog. There are also affiliate marketing sites which allow you to post ads on your page and earn each time those ads are clicked and when there’s actually a sale. In other words, your blog should be more of an information hub rather than a marketing tool. Then people will want to visit your blog not necessarily because of what you sell. They read blogs for the reason that they like what they read about. Your major focus should be to give your readers good content because it is the one and only thing that makes blog readers want to come back and even subscribe to your posts. This will then give you the kind of traffic you want for your blog to actually start making money. Readers are, of course, what you’re after because they’re the ones who’ll be appreciating your thoughts, ideas and knowledge. Without your readers, it’s useless to make a blog, unless you intend for it to be your personal journal. In that case, you can’t really expect your blog to be earning. Once you’ve, in one way or another, established a level of quality for your content, you’ll now want to add in the functionalities that will enable you to make money from your posts. Usually, people begin by adding Google AdSense. It’s a very simple process. You simply sign up for an account, provide pre-set specifications and Google will do the job of finding the best ads that will be useful or related to the information you present on your blog. When people visit your page and actually click on any of those ads, you take home a commission. If one person is going to click one ad, you will be paid for that. But that won’t be much which means you have to get as many people as you can to click as many ads on your blog as possible. That’s how you really make a good sum of money. This also means that traffic is the number one thing you should work on. And again, quality of your content is what drives people to your blog. Google AdSense is just one of the ways to make money with your blog. You can also add banners that will promote your products and services or those you have linked up with through an affiliate program. When you make very good posts, there’s a better chance that readers would want to click on those banners. Now, that will be one more way of earning an income through your blog. You can earn money blogging and a lot of pro bloggers have been very successful in this. But when making money blogs, you need to have a lot of patience because it could take time to develop readers’ trust before the formula begins to work.

Blogging - When Traffic Defines Success

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Friday 25 December 2009 1:33 am

When you talk about a blog making money, traffic is what you need. Content is king but it is given. What actually makes the money is the traffic that comes to see your content. You may have the best blog posts in the world, but if nobody sees them, they’re not going to make money. This is why traffic should always be the number one consideration after a blog has been set up. A lot of webmasters are having a hard time with the money making part because they seem to forget the value of traffic building. Some of them actually refuse to believe just what proven SEO and traffic-generating techniques can do. Fact is, you need to work on your blog beyond the posting part and all work should be geared towards getting as much traffic as possible. There could be many tips and guides you encounter about how to let that blog make money online through increased traffic. Actually, the basics apply. For example, word of mouth may not bring you all the traffic you need, but it contributes something. Classified sites are also helpful. Search the Internet for the top classified ads sites where you can advertise your blog for free. This will definitely give you considerable exposure but since the free ads are only good for 30 - 90 days, you need to go ahead and advertise your blog as much as you can on these sites within this time frame. This can be a lot of work but you can’t deny that it can pay off enormously if you do it regularly - daily basis is very good especially since most classified ad sites let you post up to five free ads each day. Just imagine if you’re able to post at least five ads everyday for 90 days on ten different classified sites. That’s a whole lot of visibility advantage and the best thing is, it’s all for free. Articles are great for adding visibility to your blog, too. Submit these articles to online directories and you can expect a high search ranking. Remember, search engines prioritize these article directories which means that’s great advantage. You need to write at least four to five articles per day and then you’ll get more and more visitors daily. Over time, you’re going to build up your readership in these article directories and this can significantly increase your search rankings. It will not happen overnight but definitely, if you submit consistently to these directories, it will happen. You will get to the top! Then making money won’t be too much work when you achieve this level. Forum posting is also a great way to get to people what your blog is all about. A lot of readers out there appreciate good content so you’re going to have to make sure your blog posts are of good quality. Forums can be likened to a real community with real live people which means you actually get to interact with potential readers. To maximize your exposure with forums, it’s a good idea to sign up for at least 5 different sites and post here as frequently as you can. The higher the page rank of these sites are, the higher your page rank will be as well. Again, consistency is important. If you want to build traffic, you have to build it steadily. You can even create Squidoo lenses which are, no doubt, favorites of search engines. Then you can promote your blog on Twitter and other social media sites. Over time, as long as you keep yourself focused on your goal, you will achieve a blog that will be bankable enough to actually make real money. Blogging is quite easy to do but how to make money blogging is the real challenge. It is, however, very much doable but it will all depend on the amount of patience and dedication you can give to actually let that blog make money.
